FAQ

Where are you located?

My office is located at:

68 Boylston Street

Brookline, MA 02445

What are your office hours?

I generally see clients on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays between 12pm and 6pm. Contact me for Friday availability.

How long is a typical session?

Most individual therapy sessions last for 50 minutes, though time may be adjusted based on individual needs. For example, some young children can only tolerate 30 minutes.

Group session times vary.

Adaptive music lessons may be scheduled for 30, 45, or 60-minute intervals.

What kind of payment do you accept?

I accept all major credit cards, cash, and checks. I also accept Zelle or Venmo. Payments are due at the time of service.

Credit card and debit card payments are process through Simple Practice, a HIPAA-secure, PCI-protected payment service that allows you to pay with a card-on-file. Once you’ve added your card to this encrypted system, charges are completed and quickly processed. You are emailed a receipt upon payment through this system.

Do you accept insurance?

Music therapy is not covered by insurance unless deemed medically necessary. If you receive a referral from another behavioral health provider or your PCP, I can provide documentation so you can be reimbursed by your out-of-network benefits.

Most clients choose not to involve insurance providers at all. Here are some benefits:

  • You won't have any diagnoses permanently attached to your health record.

  • Your records are protected, so your insurance company cannot access your personal information.

  • Your care is not dictated by your insurance company, meaning you and I can collaborate to decide what is best for your treatment without being limited by insurance requirements or number of sessions.

What are your rates?

Music therapy sessions are $130/50 min.

Adaptive music lessons are $130/hour, $100/45 min, and $75/30 min.

What do your credentials mean?

My credentials are:

  • MA - Master of Arts. I have a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Music Therapy.

  • MT-BC - Music Therapist-Board Certified. I am a nationally board certified music therapist. This means I have completed 1200+ hours of clinical work, academic training, and passed an exam allowing me to practice music therapy in the United States.

How do I schedule my first appointment?

Please use the contact form below or email me at lyzz@tuneinmusictherapy.com to set up a free consult call to determine if we are a good fit. We can set up your initial appointment from there.

What's your cancellation policy?

Life happens. Please give me 24 hours notice if you need to cancel to avoid being charged at the full rate.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

I prefer in-person sessions because I believe they deepen therapeutic connection and give us more access to musical opportunities. However, I do provide virtual session through a HIPAA compliant virtual office through Simple Practice.

I'm not a musician, can I still do music therapy?

You do not need any formal music training to participate in music therapy. Sometimes people feel intimidated by music making if they've never played music before (and even if they have!). This is something I love working through with people in therapy, and the experience of discovering you can make music is so much fun for both of us!
